The Pan-African Dialogue on Women’s Leadership

The 2026–2027 electoral cycle represents a critical juncture for the African continent. With nations such as South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya, and Nigeria preparing for pivotal elections, the imperative for inclusive governance is undeniable.
However, despite affirmative action commitments, women remain significantly underrepresented in the spaces where critical resources are allocated. The high cost of political entry, elite-driven electoral economies, and the structural limitations of First-Past-The-Post systems continue to create formidable barriers for women and youth.
The Pan-African Dialogue on Women’s Leadership, convened by Echo Network Africa Foundation (ENAF) and the Democracy Trust Fund (DTF), provides a continental platform to address these disparities head-on.
Under the theme “Women to the Seat. On the Seat. Beyond the Seat,” this inaugural dialogue brings together policymakers, civil society leaders, and development partners from across Africa to move the conversation beyond symbolic representation and into substantive power.
